Another project that is near and dear to my heart is providing a high school program in my area for children with learning disabilities. I have named the school Merideth High School in honor of my father who realized that education was the most important endeavor we could undertake in our lives. With this non-profit organization I hope to fundraise and start a much needed high school here in the city for children with learning differences. I also hope to promote scholarships for children who need the special help but their families cannot afford it alone. It amazes me that there are so many scholarships available for learning differences at the college level. If we do not get the children the education and assistance they need before the college level, how will our students ever make it to the college level. There are so many students out there who need assistance. We need to take stock in our country's greatest asset --- our children.

At this time we have incorporated as a Kentucky non-profit and we are currently fundraising the money to file our 501(c)3 paperwork for federal recognition as a non-profit. If you would be willing to contribute, I have set up a Paypal account under the email of mhs2004@bellsouth.net. We additionally need monies to secure a location, hire at least two employees, and begin admissions. This is a costly endeavor with the largest expense being the salaries of the necessary staff. Please consider donating to a very worthwhile cause.

I think it is very important for the children to have the same opportunities as the average child. The children truly want to learn and have the potential to become great scholars. The children also want to be just like every other child, they want to study and achieve and they want to play sports and be involved in extra-curricula activities. So many of them lose out on playing sports in high school because they cannot achieve and maintain the grade point average required and they do not receive the assistance they need. Pray for me as I am currently struggling with getting the fundraising off the ground to begin this program.
